Arabian Gulf League: Marcel Keizer joins AGL champion Al Jazira for another two years

Al Jazira is preparing for their defense of the Arabian Gulf League with the news that coach Marcel Keizer has signed a two-year deal with the club. Keizer’s commitment to Abu Dhabi’s pride is now being extended to four years since he joined the club in the summer of 2019. The Dutch Emperor (52) joined Al Jazira at the start of the 2019-20 season with a high ambition for a second round at the club and has since led the team to the top of the United Arab Emirates by the team’s third AGL title and the first since 2017. Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Vice-Chairman of the Al Jazira Club and Chairman of the Executive Committee, said: “We are very pleased to renew Marcel’s contract with our club. “The achievements of the past season speak for themselves and are a true proof of Marcel’s dedication and hard work for the club. Marcel’s renewal of the contract indicates the stability and long-term planning of our football club, which is due to a great team effort off the field from everyone in the Al Jazira family. I’m sure all the pride of Abu Dhabi’s fans is just as proud and happy as keeping Marcel going for at least the next two seasons. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the club’s exemplary leadership and dedication to ensure that the club has the best foundations for success and excellence. I would like to thank everyone who helped make this agreement possible. We look forward to even greater success on the local and continental scene in the coming seasons. ” Emperor said of his joy at extending his stay at Al Jazira: “Since my first day at this wonderful club, I have felt very welcome and I am proud to call Abu Dhabi my second home. I’m very proud of this moment, and especially because it comes after an exceptional season in which we were crowned deserving UAE champions. I would like to thank Dr Sultan, all management members, backroom staff, players and supporters for their trust in me. I believe that Al Jazira and I fit in perfectly because we both have a strong winning mentality and have big ambitions to achieve great success. We have an exciting challenge to retain the title next season and keep our passionate fans in Abu Dhabi and the United Arab Emirates. I promise the fans that we will continue to develop as a team and that we will always give our best in local competitions and the Asian Champions League. I can not wait to achieve great success in the near future. ‘
