Christina Ricci is the latest name to join the star-studded cast ‘Matrix 4’, led by Keanu Reeves, who is expected to repeat his role as Neo. Although no major fanfare followed through Ricci’s addition to the cast, the former child star will rub shoulders with Carrie-Anne Moss, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Priyanka Chopra Jonas. Other big names on the cast are Neil Patrick Harris, Jonathan Groff and Jada Pinkett Smith. Matrix 4 director Lana Wachowski previously collaborated with Ricci on Speed Racer, based on a novel by author Tatsuo Yoshida.
The plot and title of the film were secretly shrouded, despite the film expected to appear in just over six months, on December 22, 2021 in the US. A UAE release date has yet to be announced. Several leaks have suggested that the film may be called ‘Matrix Resurrections’, but this cannot be confirmed. It will be interesting to see how the characters of Neo and Trinity (played by Moss) come to life again through the new film after it was suggested that they would die at the end of ‘The Matrix Revolutions’.
