GCC chief condemns Turkish threats against UAE

Riyadh, August 11, 2020 — The Gulf Cooperation Council, the GCC, General Secretary Dr. Nayef al-Hajraf, on Tuesday condemned the threats made by some Turkish officials against the United Arab Emirates. This came during a meeting with Turkey’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Erdogan Kok, where he confirmed that UAE security is an integral part of the Gulf, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

He underlined the GCC’s commitment to the protection of Arab national security and expressed its opposition to foreign interference in Arab internal affairs. Hajraf underlined the GCC’s interest in ensuring the security and stability of the region and strengthening relations with neighbouring countries in order to achieve mutual interests based on respect for their sovereignty and not to interfere in their internal affairs, while resolving all differences by peaceful means in accordance with the principles of international law.
